Top TV Shows Returning in Autumn 2024

6 September 2024

As the leaves change colour and the nights grow longer, many of our favourite TV shows are returning to our screens. From Bake Off to Strictly and Big Brother, we’ve rounded up a list of must-watch shows making a comeback this autumn.

Taskmaster

Taskmaster Greg Davies and assistant (Little) Alex Horne have returned for the 18th series of Taskmaster. In this new series, comedians Andy Zaltzman, Babátúndé Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones face tasks such as defusing a robot, locating hidden rockets, counting chairs and pushing a golden envelope. As always, viewers can expect the unexpected and plenty of laughs.

Where to watch: Thursdays at 9pm on Channel 4 from 12 September

Strictly Come Dancing

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are back for another sequin-studded season of Strictly Come Dancing, and this year is extra special as Strictly celebrates its 20th anniversary.

This season promises to be the most accessible yet, with live signing available on BBC iPlayer throughout the entire show. Later in the year, a special one-off programme will look back at two decades of unforgettable performances and heartwarming interviews with past contestants, dancers and judges.

The 2024 lineup features 15 celebrities, including comedian Chris McCausland, singers JB Gill, Toyah Willcox, and Shayne Ward, plus TV stars like Tasha Ghouri, Pete Wicks and Nick Knowles. Olympians Montell Douglas and Sam Que and former footballer Paul Merson will also compete for the Glitterball trophy.

Where to watch: Saturdays at 7.20pm on BBC One from 14 September

Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off returns for its 15th series on Channel 4 on Tuesday 24 September, with a fresh batch of hopeful amateur bakers competing for the coveted title of Bake Off champion.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are back, joined by hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, as they guide this year’s contestants—including an Essex car mechanic and a Wiltshire farmer—through the intense competition.

Where to watch: Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4 from 24 September

Big Brother

After a successful first season of ITV’s Big Brother reboot last year and a celebrity edition earlier this year, the second season of the reboot will premiere on Sunday, 6 October.

This year’s launch show will be a fully live event, where the new housemates will be revealed as they prepare to move into the newly revamped Big Brother House.

AJ Odudu and Will Best will return as hosts for both the live show and the rest of the season, including Big Brother: Late & Live.

Where to watch: New series starts on 6 October at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here

I’m A Celebrity 2024 is set to welcome a new group of celebrities, trading their glamorous lives for the Australian jungle, as they battle to become the next King or Queen of the series.

For over 20 years, this award-winning reality show has seen stars endure stomach-turning Bushtucker Trials and face their fears of creepy crawlies, all in a bid to win stars for their campmates.

So, who will be the brave celebrities leaving behind their home comforts and heading Down Under to face the jungle challenges this year? The release date and line up for the latest series are yet to be announced, but it is likely to return in November.
